La Romana Dominican Republic
La Romana, a vibrant city of about two million people, is located on the South coast of the Dominican Republic. The city is singularly famous for the Artists’ Village called Altos de Chavon. The small hamlet was designed by an Italian architect, Robert Coppa with paths paved with cobblestone, terracotta structures and foundations made of coral stone. The place is replete with artists, craft workshops, art galleries and a 5000 seat amphitheater. All big names of the performing arts have performed in this amphitheatre inaugurated by none other than Frank Sinatra. But La Romana is not this village alone.
