The place is just a long 35 miles of beach resorts, hotels and golf courses strung out in a horseshoe pattern along the coast with a dense growth Palm trees. The beaches with extraordinarily silky white sand are great with the morning sun over the ocean and the evening sun atop the meticulous lines of palm trees. You can laze right through the day on these beaches. The night has its own charm, with the Caribbean music and tribal dance groups; the place has a look of carnival each day.
The place does not have much of town or villages nearby. If you are interested in shopping, you can go the shopping arcades of the resorts or even the beach shops. The arcades have a fixed price shopping experience however the beach shops will be great to exercise your bargaining skills. The small coral artifacts, local handicrafts and other memorabilia can be purchased at throwaway prices. A small request, do not try hard bargaining, even if you lose a couple of bucks, you will be contributing to the shaky economy of the country.
