History of Cuba
The Caribbean story began with Christopher Columbus and Cuba was sighted in October of 1492. The Spanish occupied the island nation soon after. It remained under the yoke of Spanish colonialism for almost four centuries. The British also tried but were soon evicted. The Spanish masters used and abused the country and its people. The produce of Cuba; sugar, nickel and slaves were traded in the European markets.
