Culture and People of Santiago de Cuba

The most valued aspect of the city is the people with diverse backgrounds and ethnic origins.  The hospitable, joyous, fun-filled and happy-go-lucky nature of the people adds that carnival spirit to the city. The best of all the cultures; Spanish, French, Africans, British and the local tribal truths have been assimilated to produce the eclectic mix that is Santiago de Cuba. The city is also the music and architectural capital of the country. You can have a formal lesson on Salsa or roam the narrow streets to see baroque or neoclassical architecture jostling for attention.
