Varadero Cuba

Varadero, the beach resort town in the Hicasos Peninsula of the province of Matanzas is about 80 miles east of the capital city Havana. The resort town is a nature lovers’ paradise with miles of sandy beaches and a dedicated nature park at the tip of the peninsula, the Punta Hicacos. The town is also known as Playa Azul, which literally translates to “the blue beaches”. The town has been a tourist destination since late eighteenth century though the development of tourist infrastructure started in the twentieth century.
